Dolby Digital Plus

Dolby Digital Plus

Most people simply refer to this as 7.1 channel surround sound. This is one of many surround sounds created by Dolby Laboratories (AKA: Dolby Labs; Dolby). Dolby Digital Plus expands on the the previously created Dolby Digital surround sound. Now instead of 5 speakers you use 7 for a much more involving surround sound format.

What you need for this:

  • A Dolby Digital Plus Receiver
  • 7 speakers (left front, right front, center, left rear and right rear, plus an additional pair of speakers to be placed either as front high speakers or as another pair of rear speakers depending on your preference for sound).
  • For even better sound a powered subwoofer is strongly suggested to enhance the bass tones.

The official speaker setup guide can be found here.
